Add Flee Flee to the ever-growing list of supercool cafes making me rethink Itaewon. My friend (also known as Seoulist’s Editor in Chief) brought me to this little gem last weekend for a writers lab. She couldn’t have chosen a better spot for a creative gathering. Flee Flee is more than just your average “coffice” (coffee + office). It’s a dynamic space that fosters and seeks to showcase great ideas and creations. You can tell this is a special place before you even enter — the storefront sign is a marvel of design.
The owners of Flee Flee hope to display work by local designers and artists. The number on each shelf indicates monthly rent in cups of coffee. So, for example, if a shelf has a card with “19,” a purveyor can lease that square for the same price as 19 cups of coffee. The value of each cell is carefully determined based on visibility, as shown in numerous infographics posted on the walls. This plan is what really made me fall in love with Flee Flee. Coffee cups as monetary units? Perfect. Too clever.
Please note the menu, which looks like a giant receipt. Also, it commands you: “OPEN YOUR WALLET!!” Yes, do open your wallet and try a delicious chai latte. Mmm mm.
I think I’ve already said too much! If you want to know more, you’ll just have to check out Seoulist‘s upcoming feature on Flee Flee. Or go visit? Or both. Both! Do it.

Ooh, this looks wicked cool! Where in Itaewon is it?
Reading about your cafe finds makes me miss Seoul all over again. Hope you’ve been well, and do keep warm! :)
